De Vrij And Zielinski Out For Season Opener

Inter Milan Begins Title Defense Without Key Players

De Vrij and Zielinski Out for Season Opener

Italian champions Inter Milan will kick off their Serie A title defense without key defenders Stefan de Vrij and Piotr Zielinski due to injuries, manager Simone Inzaghi confirmed on Friday.

De Vrij, who played a key role in Inter's title-winning campaign last season, is out with a muscular problem, while Zielinski has a knee injury.

Inzaghi: No Easy Match Against Genoa

"It won't be an easy match against Genoa," Inzaghi told reporters. "They're a well-organized team with a good coach. We need to be at our best to get three points."

Inzaghi added that he will rely on his experienced players to guide the team in the absence of de Vrij and Zielinski.

Tried-and-Trusted Stars to Lead Inter

Inter will turn to their tried-and-trusted stars from last season's title-winning campaign, including Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella, and Marcelo Brozovic.

New signing Romelu Lukaku is also expected to make his second debut for the club after his loan move from Chelsea.

Inter Aiming for Strong Start

Inter will be looking to make a strong start to their title defense and will be confident of getting a positive result against Genoa, who finished 17th in Serie A last season.

The match will take place at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa on Saturday, August 26.
