Ally McCoist: Scottish Football Legend

Early Life and Career

Alistair Murdoch Ally McCoist MBE was born on September 24, 1962, in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. He began his football career with Rangers Football Club in 1978 and quickly established himself as one of the most prolific scorers in Scottish football history.

Rangers and International Career

McCoist spent the majority of his playing career with Rangers, scoring an incredible 355 goals in 581 appearances. He also represented Scotland on 61 occasions, scoring 19 goals.

Managerial Career

After retiring from playing, McCoist became manager of Rangers in 2011. He led the club to three Scottish Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups.

TV Punditry

Since leaving management, McCoist has worked as a TV pundit for BT Sport and talkSPORT. He is known for his insightful analysis and quick wit.

Legacy

Ally McCoist is considered one of the greatest players in Scottish football history. He was inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame in 2005 and is a recipient of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
